I live creatively, teach earnestly, and make art joyously.

I'm Clark Kellogg.

My art practice is 40 years old. It has been a process of finding simplicity and essence in the work I do.

I was born in Fresno, California, grew up in San Francisco, lived in NYC for 20 years and returned to the Bay Area in 1994.

My creative training formally began in architecture and design school at UC Berkeley. My actual training began much earlier. Nature taught me. My grandfather taught me.

When I was in 5th grade my teacher, Mr. Carney, told me something that has shaped me ever since. One day he said to me,You’re not weird, you're just creative.”

That made the world I loved safe for me. And, it has been that way ever since.

“You’re not weird, you're just creative.”

My expertise

I have practiced architecture. I have practiced graphic design and product design. I built and ran a design firm in NYC.

I was the first designer to sit on the executive board of a Fortune 500 company.

I became a professor at UC Berkeley in the College of Environmental Design and then the Haas School of Business.

I taught innovation, design thinking, creativity, and art.

Art is powerful.

It ignites our creativity and curiosity. It taps into our hearts and our minds (in that order). My work reflects who I am and often guides me to understand what I believe. It is fun to make!
