WHAT IS CREATIVITY + BUSINESS?

I wish there wasn’t a need for a program called, “Creativity + Business.” There shouldn’t be a demand for understanding how to ignite creativity in senior business leaders and the organizations they run. But the need is real, and the demand is real. That’s why I created “Creativity + Business.” I teach creativity and innovation at the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley.

Virtually every CEO I’ve spoken with in the last five years has said they are looking for more creative thinkers with the courage to implement change in their companies. Gone are the days when success was measured by always agreeing with the boss; toeing the company line; doing things the way they have always been done.

We live and work in a time when the fundamental assumptions of business’ value are being called into question.

Purpose and responsibility are evolving. Opportunities abound even amid rising uncertainty. In this environment an organization’s capacity to thrive – and in some cases survive – is dependent on its ability to act on fast-changing conditions nimbly and creatively.

Successful companies and the people who run them are seeking a new capability: how to use “stable creativity” as a strategic business tool and cultural mindset to grow their companies. I’ve been asked, “Isn’t creativity just child’s play?” I recently was told, “Creativity is what artists do – not mature business leaders.”

So, what can business leaders learn from artists?

A STRUCTURED SEQUENCE OF EVENTS:

✔ Baseline survey and interviews to establish your Creativity Quotient

✔ 12 hours of 1:1 coaching with three C-suite executives

✔ A company keynote address for up to 150 employees

✔ 12-hours Hands on Creativity Lab for 20 senior leaders (three 4-hour sessions)

✔ 20 hours of follow up zoom “office hours” for Lab participants

✔ An original Clark Kellogg artwork created for the company and inspired by the work
